Snippets: Random Excerpts from Fisheye I Find Endearing
Fisheye: A Compendium of the Inner Thoughts of a Dreamer is my upcoming poetry collection that gives an insight into the mind of a young creative through gothic, whimsical, and eerily dreamy poetry. While I’m still hard at work on this project, I thought showcasing some of my favorite lines from different poems without context would be a fun way not only to stir up some excitement, but to showcase what my writing is like in this medium versus storytelling.
So, without further ado, here are some of my favorite Snippets!
‘’The soil warm and rich on my tongue,
staining my pearly teeth with the taste
of secrets and saccharine sweetness’’
‘’Crimson blood spills
into the glittering
blanket of snow
underneath her hooves.’’
‘’With hymns bleated from her tongue
and foolish prayers braided through
the metal thorns of her cool, silver
bridle.’’
‘’...the demons of knowledge who
dangle every answer to the universe over these
poor, mortal creatures’ theorizing heads like
easily bottled seduction.’’
‘’...it’s branches crookedly
Stretch towards the still-lingering
Stars that the golden dawn has
Yet to dissipate.’’
‘’Skin-split knees and spilled blood
blesses the soil as yearning, stolen
kisses reflect upon the holy, glimmering water.’’
‘’...And a wide, lipstick-smeared grin that
Bared more sharp white teeth than gum.’’
‘’…Flowers of delicacy and temptation
Blooming from every vital, viscid organ…’’
‘’Like pearls picked fresh from
The maw of the clam, they
Roll around in open-palmed hands.’’
‘’…Her maiden, her daughter, a
Precious virgin moonflower.’’
